There are still openings available for my next Art of Mixed Media Collage class on November 4, 2023. The class will take place from 9am-12pm at Green Door Art Gallery in St. Louis, MO.
The 3-hour class will introduce you to the materials and techniques for creating collage, which includes the use of design elements and principles in collage composition
The class fee of $60 includes all materials. (Students are welcome to bring magazines, papers, cards, or other personal items for their collages if they wish.)
No previous drawing or art background is needed. Each student will leave class with a finished small collage.

Not only am I teaching classes, but I recently took Mary Martin’s, Joy of Gel Printing - Beautiful Botanicals class at Green Door Art Gallery. Mary demonstrated the layering process of gel printing using a variety of pressed botanical elements. Not all of my prints were winners, but I had a great time and learned a lot!
At the end of class we used a print or prints to create a greeting card. I actually attached some of the broken bits from one of the plants to the surface of my collage card.
I'm also getting ready to teach another class at Crown Center Senior Living Center. I spent last Sunday playing with leaf printing for that class. Each leaf was hand painted and, while the paint was still wet, the leaf was pressed onto the surface of the paper. The leaf prints were overlapped to give the appearance of fallen autumn leaves. I also ended up by printing a layered leaf composition using gingko on a painted background. These were lots of fun and will make excellent collage fodder!
Two of my collages are currently on display at area exhibitions. Growth Among the Ruins is hanging at the Webster Groves Public Library until October 31st as part of Webster Arts' Small Works XVIII exhibition. My collage, In the Rainy Season will be on display through October 14th at the St. Louis Artist's Guild's Member Exhibition. I'm honored to have had work accepted in both of these exhibits.
Finally, my mixed media collage, Windows of the World, has found a new home. Thank you to the buyer, Nita!
